PYURAN, a small business in Ulsan, has successfully domesticated the polyurethane foaming catalyst using eco-friendly technology through a technology cooperation program with the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT).
(omitted)
The technology developed by KRICT and transferred to PYURAN simplifies the production process by using a special catalyst, reducing the production steps to just one and discharging only water during the process, making it an eco-friendly process. The simplification of the process is expected to reduce costs and provide import substitution effects. PYURAN plans to commercialize the technology following scale-up research and development. The company expects a 200% increase in sales and export revenues of 5 billion won
Founded in 2011, PYURAN is a small business that produces polyurethane foaming catalysts and road sensor sealants. Dr. Lim Ho, a former research group leader at KPX Chemical, has focused on investing in research and development despite challenging conditions, particularly in the development of eco-friendly, non-toxic catalysts. In 2015, the company was selected as a startup star company.
